Description

Today you see two faces of Gelderland: the IJsselvallei and the scenic landscape of the Achterhoek around Vorden. Which region is the most beautiful? Choosing is difficult here... luckily you don't have to do that today!

Den Bramel
This route starts in the historic town of Bronkhorst. First take a tour through this beautiful town and then drive into the Achterhoek. You see the landscape slowly change: the open polder area gradually makes way for a mosaic of streams, forests and arable lands. It's almost like you're driving into another country. At Vorden you pass Den Bramel Castle, a country estate dating from the fourteenth century. The current country house was built in 1726.

Gelders Hengelo
In the Gelderland village of Hengelo you can see the monumental Bleekhuisje from 1750 on the Steintjesweide. From this unique building a watchman kept an eye on the precious linen and laundry that were bleached here. The Remigius Church dates from the fifteenth century. As you drive towards the IJsselvallei, the landscape opens up again. Here you will discover another beautiful old town: Doesburg.
