In old Elspeet you immediately spot the sixteenth-century church. Further on you will pass Landgoed Staverden, the smallest town with city rights in the Benelux. You will also see De Essenburgh Castle, built in the seventeenth century on behalf of Johan Coolwagen. This noble lord wanted to acquire a place within the Knighthood of Veluwe. This failed and he had to sell the castle to his creditors. Just outside Nunspeet you cycle past the Veluwe transferium, with a thirty-meter high lookout tower. Be sure to join us!
