From Elspeet across the Veluwe

In old Elspeet, you immediately spot the sixteenth-century church. Further on, you pass the Staverden Estate, the smallest town with city rights in the Benelux. You also see De Essenburgh Castle, built in the seventeenth century on the orders of Johan Coolwagen. This nobleman wanted to acquire a place within the Knighthood of Veluwe in this way. This failed, and he had to sell the castle to his creditors. Just outside Nunspeet, you cycle past the Veluwe Transferium, with its thirty-meter-high observation tower. Definitely worth a visit!
