A day through beautiful Belgian forests

Around the Belgian towns of Kalmthout and Brasschaat, you can cycle for hours through the vast countryside. A wonderful way to unwind from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Forests of Brasschaat
Immediately after mounting your bike, you'll cycle into the woods surrounding Brasschaat. One moment you're riding among fragrant conifers, the next beneath the canopy of stately deciduous trees. Numerous streams flow through the woods, creating a varied landscape and providing some refreshment. You'll also cycle for a few kilometers through the expansive countryside east of Kalmthout. Here you'll pass through the Maatjes, a unique nature reserve with reed beds, marshy woods, and wet meadows. It's wonderfully quiet here.

Suske and Wiske
On the outskirts of Kalmthout, you'll come across the Provincial Suske and Wiske Children's Museum. It's a fun place, also for adults who grew up with the exciting adventures of this famous duo. The museum is housed in the former workshop of Willy Vandersteen, the creator of Suske and Wiske. The route ends at Monida Bistro-Cremerie. The menu offers a wide selection of treats: for breakfast, a meal, or just a snack, such as homemade ice cream.
