Tour of castles and caves along the Geul

Your route starts at De Zoete Zoen. You'll first walk right along the Geul River towards Houthem St. Gerlach, straight through the woods. The footpath leads you along the edge of the Geul, offering stunning views! You'll also walk through Ingendael: a wonderfully tranquil nature reserve with flower-filled meadows through which the Geul River meanders. Here you'll pass Sint Gerlach Castle, built as a monastery in the 12th century. The monastery wasn't converted into a castle until the 19th century. Be sure to visit the castle! From here, it's a short walk to the charming town of Valkenburg. Take some time to visit the Roman Catacombs before leisurely strolling back to your starting point. You don't see something like this very often!
