Bussum is a beautiful town that can be explored on foot. Put on your walking shoes and walk this route through the south of Bussum and over the Bussumerheide.
Fort Work IV
Soon you will pass the Mariënburg on your left, a former monastery building from 1878. It was designed by the famous Pierre Cuypers, just like the monumental St. Vitus Church that you will encounter further on. Fort Werk IV (from 1870) is the largest of five fortifications built in Bussum in the second half of the nineteenth century to defend the Naarden fortress. Only Fort Werk IV still exists, nothing can be found of the other fortifications.
Bussumerheide
You can take a trip through nature on the outskirts of Bussum. You walk across the Bussumerheide, a wonderfully quiet nature reserve that is part of the Gooise Nature Reserve. Here you have a beautiful view of the area. The route ends at the parking lot in the heart of Bussum.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
