Tour along the water near Almelo

The route starts at the train station of Almelo. You cycle straight through the historical centre of Almelo, after which you cycle out of the city via the Almelose Aa. You cycle over the Twenthekanaal to the Eksosche Aa: a winding stream that you also follow for a long way, on a beautiful free-standing cycle path through the stream valley. Nearby you come across the beautifully meandering Regge. You cycle back into Almelo via Huize Almelo, which dates from 1660. It is privately owned, but you can see it beautifully from the Gravenallee, which also leads you past monumental farms and a green countryside with forests, hedges and canals.
