After a cup of coffee at Bakery and Lunchroom Uniek, you drive along rural roads towards Lake Veluwe. A beautiful, secluded cycle path between the grasslands leads you to the seventeenth-century De Essenburgh Castle. Here you turn towards the woods on the north side of the Veluwe. You will also find a lot of heathland here: for example, you cross the Elspetse Heide, with its heathland sheep and ancient burial mounds. What a change! On the way back you have a beautiful view of the Veluwemeer from the Oude Zeeweg. The name of the road is of course reminiscent of the Zuiderzee. For safety reasons, but also because the First World War had created a food shortage and new agricultural land could be created on Flevoland. Now the Veluwemeer region is a popular area for water sports enthusiasts - and cyclists!
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
