Description
Wassenaar is mainly known for its beautiful villas and buildings. You will also find a lot of nature here: on the coastal side of this beautiful town you can dive into the dunes of Meijendel. In the past, many hawthorns grew in the area, from which Meijendel takes its name. The inner dune has a lot of tree growth, closer to the sea you will find 'bare' sandy areas with beach grass. This route also takes you to the historic estates around Wassenaar, such as Duindigt, which is known for its racecourse. In the park of the Clingendael estate you will see the seventeenth-century country house that houses the famous Clingendael Institute. You will also find a number of beautiful gardens there. You cycle back past the Royal Estate de Horsten, via the edge of the stately Voorschoten.
