This beautiful cycling route of about 40 kilometers, called Tussen Maas en Grens, starts in the center of the touristic village of Arcen. Parking is possible at the Schanstoren. You cycle the first part along the Maas and you arrive in the village of Velden. Via the Velden hamlets of Hasselt and Schhandelo you cycle along the border through the woods of Landgoed Arcen. Landgoed Arcen is a former part of Castle Arcen. The area is recognizable by several former avenues and the ice cellar of the castle. It consists mainly of coniferous and deciduous forests and is one of the most popular cycling and hiking areas in the region.
You continue the route along the German border. Via Landgoed de Hamert, an area in De Maasduinen National Park, you return to the starting point in Arcen. Landgoed de Hamert consists of the typical parabolic dunes, Meuse meadows, dry deciduous and coniferous forests, heaths, and much more. Also a popular walking and cycling area.
Once back in Arcen you can settle down on one of the many pleasant terraces in the center or on the Maas.
