Round Zeist

From Zeist you can easily walk onto De Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park. Discover the differences between old and new forest when you explore the Zeisterbos and Boswachterij Austerlitz.

Zeisterbos
You walk out of the city on the Wilhelminalaan, here you see many monumental houses. Just outside the city you walk into the Zeisterbos, an old forest where many special plants grow. Do you spot the honeysuckle? Numerous birds have their home here, such as the tawny owl.

Forestry Austerlitz
On the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, heaths, open sand plains and deciduous and coniferous forests alternate in a gently sloping landscape. It is a wonderful area to relax and leave the everyday hustle and bustle behind. You will pass through Boswachterij Austerlitz, a much younger forest, among other things. At the beginning of the nineteenth century this was still one large heathland, when the French army built Kamp Zeist there. Special!
