Description
A wonderful route through the greenery, full of discoveries! You walk on a former railway line straight through the polder. You will also pass by the forts of the Defense Line of Amsterdam.
Wonderfully green
From Achterbos you first walk to Vinkeveen, where you walk along the Ringdijk close to the water. Judging by all those small boats, they take full advantage of the watery environment. A little further on you follow a beautiful walking path straight through the polder: constructed on the former Wilnis-Vinkeveen railway embankment. Wonderfully quiet and green! On the border of Wilnis and Mijdrecht you pass St. John the Baptist, a church from 1876. The adjacent parsonage is also a monument.
Vinkeveense plassen
Via Mijdrecht you walk to Fort Waver-Amstel and Fort in de Botshol, both part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam. Now they are special nature reserves. A beautiful walking path over a green dike leads you close to the water to the Vinkeveense Plassen. From the dike you look out over meadows and farms.
