Description
The Maashorst consists of several small nature reserves, each of which is worth exploring. With this route you will discover the Herpse Bossen and the Groot Ganzenven, near Oss.
The Zeldenrust
Today you will make a grand tour through the green countryside of Oss. You will soon pass the De Zeldenrust stand mill - the name does justice to the mill, because it has been rebuilt several times. The mill is probably about 400 years old, as can be seen from inscriptions with the year 1621. Fortunately, they survived the renovations!
Herpse Bossen
You cycle through the largest contiguous nature reserve in Brabant: De Maashorst. You drive through the Herpse Bossen sub-area. Here you will discover the Groot Ganzenven, a beautiful natural fen. Via Oss you drive to the rural area on the other side of the city, which is bisected by the Hertogswetering. This name also did not come out of the blue: the canal was dug around 1300 on behalf of the dukes of 's-Hertogenbosch.
