Description

Beautiful villages and towns plus lots of cycling along the water of the Sneekermeer and the Swette: this is a beautiful varied route through beautiful Friesland.

Historical Sneek
The route starts in the old center of Sneek. On the Kleinzand you will find a number of buildings from 1790, built in the Louis XVI style. The white-plastered Brandenburg is a sixteenth-century stepped gable house. At number 32 is the shop of Weduwe Joustra, the distillery of the original Beerenburg. The water of the Swette leads you out of the city.

Sneekermeer
Wirdum, the destination of your tour, is known for the Protestant St. Martin's Church, which probably dates from the period around 1200. You cycle back to Sneek via the Sneekermeer, where pleasure yacht and skûts enthusiasts will be amazed. Nature lovers can also indulge themselves here. On the banks you see waving reed collars, in the meadows and on the water you can spot many birds, such as godwits and lapwings
