Description
With this round you will discover the Helden forests, the never-finished route of the Noordervaart and a large number of villages. But above all you enjoy the peace and quiet here.
Heroic forests
This nature reserve consists of a mosaic of various contiguous pine forests, but you will also find small-scale arable land, fens and small heaths. You can fully enjoy the silence here. In Helden you can stop for a snack or drink at Brasserie De Zoes. They are known here for their beer range, let yourself be advised and discover something completely new!
Noordervaart
Helden actually consists of six cores: in addition to Helden-dorp, these are Beringe, Egchel, Panningen, Koningslust and Grashoek. You will discover a large part of those villages with this route. Your tour also leads you along the Noordervaart, built in 1808 by order of Napoleon as part of the Scheldt-Maas-Rhine canal. However, the canal is only navigable as far as Beringe: the annexation of Rotterdam suddenly made the canal superfluous and the work was stopped.
