Description

Fancy a day of cycling through a typical Dutch landscape? Then take this route through Woerden, Bodegraven and Nieuwkoop. First you cycle through the polder to Woerden. Here you will see, among other things, Woerden Castle, which dates from 1417. Further on you will pass the Windmolen, a corn mill from 1755. Then you cycle along the banks of the Oude Rijn, the river that once formed the northern border of the Roman Empire. Fort Wierickerschans is a nice sight from 1673. Via Bodegraven and Zwammerdam you cycle to Nieuwkoop. You have a beautiful view over the rippling water of the Nieuwkoopse Plassen. Further on you will pass Woerdense Verlaat, a centuries-old hamlet on the Grecht.
