Walking through the nature reserve 't Merkske

From Food & Drinks by Zus & Zo, you can walk straight into nature. This route takes you through the Merkske valley, a long, sprawling nature reserve located in both the Netherlands and Belgium. You'll be walking mainly on unpaved paths, so make sure you wear sturdy footwear. Initially, you'll walk past meadows and fields. A few hundred meters past junction 78, the landscape becomes more unspoiled as you head towards 't Merkske. This stream has never been canalized and therefore retains its authentic, winding course. The valley surrounding the stream has also never been cultivated; here you'll find a 19th-century landscape with flower-filled meadows and water-loving alders. And a refreshing tranquility! After your walk, relax at Zus & Zo on a cozy terrace.
