Zierikzee is a cozy and beautiful town. A good opportunity to put on your walking shoes for a beautiful walk.
Monument City
It is not without reason that Zierikzee enjoys a protected cityscape. There are no fewer than 568 monuments, so take the time for this city walk to get a taste of the unique historical atmosphere here. The city gained its wealth not only from fishing, but also from trade and industry. Already in the Middle Ages it was a large walled city with six gates. The Zuidhavenpoort is one of them: it served to protect the southern harbor entrance.
Old Port
Further on, you are at one of the most beautiful places in the city: the Oude Haven. Here you can see a few beautiful old ships in the Museum Harbor Zeeland. Then you pass the most famous building in Zierikzee, the Sint-Lievensmonstertoren from 1506. The tower should have been the tallest in the country, but due to a lack of money, this was canceled.
Tour tip; Hiking with kids! Routes up to 5 km are ideal
