Description

A beautiful watery route, along the Oosterschelde and the Zuid-Beveland Canal. Along the way you will discover the beautiful historic fishing village of Yerseke.

Yerseke and Oosterschelde
This route first takes you through beautiful Yerseke. You will see the historic oyster pits here, where you can taste the oysters and see how oysters are farmed. The fishing village is best known for the mussels and oysters that are caught in the Oosterschelde, which is now a national park. Along the coast you can see thousands of shorebirds from your bike. Nature is given plenty of space here again, so that the birds benefit from the wet and salty landscape.

Canal of South Beveland
On the Oosterschelde you have a wide view over the water while cycling. You continue to follow the water inland, along the Zuid-Beveland Canal. It cuts South Beveland in half at the narrowest part and connects the Oosterschelde with the Westerschelde. This canal, built in 1866, was once busy with traffic, but now you can enjoy the peace and quiet.
