The camp landscape around Varsseveld

This route takes you through the old camp landscape around Varsseveld. You also pass through those typical Achterhoek villages. That will be a nice downshift!

The Varsseveld cups
Around Varsseveld you will find many small differences in height: the Varsseveldse kopjes. In this landscape of cover sand ridges, fields were traditionally laid out on the high kopjes. Due to centuries of deep litter fertilization, they grew higher and higher. Now there is a characteristic small-scale mosaic of high fields, forests, high-stem orchards, hedges and wooded areas. In short, a wonderful cycling area!

Achterhoek villages
In the Achterhoek you sometimes feel like you are cycling back in time, so many beautiful old farms are here. Moreover, you experience a coziness and peace that reminds you of times gone by. You pass through places like Westendorp and Lintelo where you see the Wenninkmolen, a beautiful corn mill from 1860. Further on you pass the Teunismolen, a corn mill from 1822.
