Tour of Germany from the Achterhoek

This route explores the eastern Achterhoek region and the border area with Germany. You'll cycle through the typical bocage landscape of this region, a beautiful cycling area. Then you'll cross the border and enter Germany. In this sparsely populated border area, you'll ride through a diverse landscape of streams, vast meadows, and small forests. Enjoy nature in peace and quiet! In the border village of Dinxperlo stands the beautiful St. Liborius Church, whose tower dates back to 1400. The Schüttenstein Forest is a relatively natural forest, just across the German border. You'll return via the Brüggenhütte inn on the Aa River, right by the border crossing. This used to be a popular meeting place for Dutch and German customs officers and smugglers. The tour ends with a drink on the terrace at Restaurant van Hal.
