In West-Friesland you can walk through the wide polders at your leisure. This route takes you through the quiet countryside and through some picturesque old villages. A wonderful walk to clear your head.
Monumental mills
Just before Oude-Niedorp you can see De Hoop from a distance, a corn mill from 1641. In the village you pass Ruimzicht, a farmhouse from 1750. Walking along the Berkmeerdijk you can see the Berkmeermolen from 1608. This mill was moved from its original location near Hensbroek to its current location in 1803. A little further on you pass the Veenhuizer from 1630, which now houses a house.
Motorcycle Museum
From the Dijkweg you can see the Vier Winden, a polder mill from 1891 that still drains the polder De Lage Hoek. In Nieuwe Niedorp you can pay a visit to the North Holland Motor Museum. Here nice things from grandmother's time are exhibited. There are also no less than 275 engines of various vehicles to view.
