In West Friesland you can stroll through the vast polders at your leisure. This route takes you through the quiet countryside and through some picturesque old villages. A lovely walk to clear your head.
Monumental mills
Just before Oude-Niedorp you will see De Hoop, a corn mill from 1641, from a distance. In the village you will pass Ruimzicht, a bell-shaped farm from 1750. Walking along the Berkmeerdijk you will see the Berkmeer mill from 1608. This mill was moved from its original one in 1803. location near Hensbroek to the current location. A little further on you will pass the Veenhuizer from 1630, which now houses a house.
Motor Museum
From the Dijkweg you can see the Vier Winden, a polder mill from 1891 that still drains the De Lage Hoek polder. In Nieuwe Niedorp you can visit the North Holland Motor Museum. Nice things from grandmother's time are exhibited here. There are also no fewer than 275 engines of various vehicles on display.
