On the North Holland Landgoed Beeckestijn it is wonderfully quiet for a walk. You feel like a gentleman or lady here. In the atmospheric village of Driehuis you can see some sights.
Countryside Beeckestijn
Buitenplaats Beeckestijn is one of the few fully preserved summer residences of wealthy Amsterdam regents. The former owners came by boat across the then Wijkermeer to their country. The current country estate originated from a seventeenth-century homestead. The lush backyard, probably the first landscape garden in the Netherlands, is a feast for the eyes with its winding paths, flowering shrubs, water features, flower fan and romantic structures.
Three House
Driehuis is a quiet village, ideal for a stroll through. You will pass the Sint Engelmundus Church. The current building dates from 1894, it replaced an ancient farm church. Further on you pass a white eighteenth-century farmhouse with green-white-red shutters. The white reception building of Cemetery Westerveld on Driehuizerkerkweg is a monument: it was designed by the well-known architect Dudok.
