To Utrecht from Oud-Loosdrecht

From Oud-Loosdrecht with its historic farms you cycle to the heart of Utrecht. What a varied day! First you cycle along the Loosdrechtse Plassen, a series of lakes that were created by peat extraction. Here you can enjoy the views over the rippling water. Then you cycle a long way along the meandering Vecht. You pass old farms, villas and country estates. Sometimes it almost seems as if you are cycling through an open-air museum. Via the picturesque Oud-Zuilen with the castle of the same name you cycle straight into Utrecht. On the way back you discover Fort Blauwkapel, one of the largest forts from the New Dutch Waterline. It was built around the village of Blauwkapel, now a protected village view with a fifteenth-century church.
