Description
Variety is key! From historic Oud-Loosdrecht you first cycle past the old country estates of's Gravenland. Further on you drive along the edge of the Naardermeer, a swampy nature reserve. You pass Fort Uitermeer, part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam. A fortification was built at this location as early as 1589 for the defense of Weesp. The Ankeveense Plassen is a quiet nature reserve that was created by peat extraction. In many places you can still recognize the pattern of centuries-old farmers from the narrow strips of land. The peat was dried in these fields. From junction 3 you cycle over the dike along the Loosdrechtse Plassen. Enjoy the views over the water.
