Tour of Vriezenveen and Vroomshoop

This route takes you through Twenterand: the region where Twente borders Salland. Here you cycle through the former Twente peat area. Although, former... Soon after boarding you drive past De Engbertsdijksvenen. This nature reserve is a remnant of the large peat swamp that once covered the northeast of the Netherlands. Further on you drive through Vriezenveen. Here you will see some beautiful monumental farms that were built around the beginning of the twentieth century. Just past junction 42 you cycle through De Dannenkamp Estate. You continue on car-free roads past grassy meadows and fields. You cycle through the Zandstuve, a gently sloping nature reserve where tree species such as larch, Douglas fir and oak grow. The route leads you via Vroomshoop, Geerdijk and Westerhaar back to your cozy overnight address: De Johanneshoeve.
