Walking through surprising Almelo

Almelo will surprise many a walking enthusiast. You will find lots of nature, beautiful old buildings and of course the unique Gravenallee. Put on your walking shoes and experience it yourself!

Of course, a country estate has a driveway. This certainly applies to Huize Almelo: the driveway here measures almost 3.5 kilometres. Along the Gravenallee lie monumental farms with leasehold lands and a green countryside with forests, hedges and canals where it is wonderful to walk. The route takes you through this unique rural area where vistas and special views alternate. Huize Almelo itself is privately owned, but from the path you can admire the original thirteenth-century building.

Bellinckhof
You can also walk through the natural countryside to the west of the city. You will walk along the Almelose Aa, among other things. You will also pass the Bellinckhof park, a country estate from 1919, designed by Leonard Springer. In the centre, there are many beautiful buildings to see, such as the Mennonite Church from the eighteenth century. The Bleekkerk is a cruciform church from 1927 in the style of the Amsterdam School.
