A nice walk from Soerendonk

Fancy a varied and quiet walk? Then walk this beautiful route through the Soerendonks Goor and the Gastelse Heide. And enjoy some ancient sights along the way.

Soerendonks Goor
From Soerendonk you walk along the hayfields into the Soerendonks Goor. In this swampy nature reserve you can easily walk through woods and heaths. It is wonderfully quiet here, so close to the border with Belgium. An ideal area to leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind. From the Soerendonks Goor you walk into the Gastelse Heide. You walk here between coniferous trees, occasionally you also see birch and oak trees.

Saint Cornelius Chapel
At the triangular square in Gastel you walk past the Sint-Cornelius chapel from 1855. You continue through the rural area to the hamlet of Winkel and Soerendonk. You will see some characteristic Kempen farms. In Soerendonk you walk past the Sint-Jans Onthoofding, a water state church from 1838. It was built in neoclassical style. The route ends a little further on at De Bout, a cozy café with a good menu.
