zYou not only cycle along the Maas, but also along the many gravel ponds that the Maasland has to offer. From the starting point in Maaseik you leave for Aldeneik. This romantic village was once the cradle of Maaseik during the early Middle Ages and still exudes an authentic character.
A little further on you take the foot ferry in Ophoven (Kinrooi). This part of the Maas is the only place in the Maasland where the Maas is navigable for ships. Here you can enjoy the many sailing boats and luxury ships that sail past.
On the Dutch side you cycle past the village of Ohé en Laak, a small idyllic village that, together with Stevensweert, is located on an island in the Maas. Here you cycle past the beautiful castle'Hasselholt\\\'. This castle has a beautiful Renaissance facade from 1651. Hasselholt is now inhabited by Baron Van Hövell tot WestfJier.
In Roosteren you feel like you are in a real open-air museum, because nowhere else in the surrounding area can you find such a large number of preserved artistic farms!
At junction 27 you continue the tour on the Belgian side via a ferry crossing. Be sure to get off your bike at Maascentrum De Wissen. You will discover life around the Maas and the industry that made Stokkem an important city, the art of reed weaving.
From here you continue the tour along gravel ponds and the Maas. After a final stop at the busy pilgrimage site of Heppeneert, you hop on your bike one last time to end up at the Grote Markt of Maaseik.
Here you can enjoy a well-deserved terrace after a long trip!
