Roerdalen, Limburg, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 545989
Provided by: Groots Genieten
This route takes you from Central Limburg to Heinsberg, the westernmost city in Germany. A route with lots of natural beauty and beautiful German villages.
Floor dropper mill
The first kilometers you drive through Roerdalen, the area around the Roer where the landscape gently undulates. Here you will find stream valleys and quiet forests. There is still a friendly atmosphere in the villages. Like in Vlodrop, where you can take a break at Eethoek de Lindeboom. Further on is the Vlodroppermolen, a watermill from 1875. It is located just in front of the place where the Rothenbach flows into the Roer.
Lake Laprell
Cycling on the German part of your route is also wonderfully quiet. Here too you will find stream valleys and small-scale forests, such as on the edge of Wassenberg. In this forest you pass the Wingertsmühle, which originally dates from 1600. You can also admire some sights in beautiful Heinsberg. Further on you drive along the leafy banks of Lake Laprell, a lake created by sand extraction.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
