You take a nice varied walk: the route leads you through the Herpse Bossen and an agricultural area with Kempen long-gabled farms and a medieval canal.
The Herpse Woods
Your walking route starts at De Kriekeput, known for its outdoor swimming pool. Here you will find the Eeterij, perfect to start the day with a cup of coffee on the terrace. You are right next to the largest contiguous nature reserve in Brabant: De Maashorst. Various nature areas are part of this, such as the Herpse Bossen. Between the deciduous forests, heathland, fens and sand drifts you can encounter wild Exmoor ponies and Scottish Highland cattle.

In the Herpse Bossen you will find beautiful lakes: the Klompven and the Groot Ganzenven. The Klompven is a recreational lake, created by sand extraction during the construction of the A50. The Groot Ganzenven is a natural fen that has been restored to its former glory. Further north you will find a completely different area: an agricultural area with a few Kempen long-gable farms. You cross the Hertogswetering a few times, dug around 1300 by order of the dukes of's-Hertogenbosch.
