Description

This route takes you through the Utrecht lowlands. First you make a shortcut to Kasteel de Haar. The castle originally dates from the fourteenth century. The current castle was rebuilt in 1892 in neo-Gothic style by Pierre Cuypers. Around Kockengen you drive through the cope landscape of narrow, straight meadows. Then you cycle along the Vecht, where you will see many old farms and villas. You will also pass Fort Spion, the fortification from 1847 that was part of the New Dutch Waterline. You drive over the dike past the Loosdrechtse Plassen. Finally, you drive a bit through the Vuursche Bossen, before cycling back to the Maarsseveense Plassen.
