From Zorgvlied you can drive straight into the forests and heathlands of the Drents-Friese Wold National Park. The silence in this nature reserve feels like a warm bath for your soul: wonderful! Sometimes you hear a bird, sometimes only the rustling of your trouser leg along your chain guard. You can cycle for miles on the cycle path without encountering a car. You will see native species such as oak and Scots pine, but also exotic trees such as Douglas fir and Japanese larch.
