Description

The Trentse Bossen is a dry sandy area where mainly Scots pine and American oak grow. It is nice and quiet to walk here. A great opportunity to forget the daily hustle and bustle for a while. In the rural area around Oventje you walk along meadows and fields. At junction 70 you will see Sint Victor further on, a corn mill from 1938. Oventje is a hamlet that probably owes its name to the medieval brick oven of which some remains were found in 1982. You will see some characteristic farms there. Just past junction 69 is a very unique monument: a broken electricity pole. The metal pole gave way during the infamous Storm Disaster of 1925. A plaque has been placed on the pole in memory of the visit that Queen Wilhelmina paid to Oventje after the tornado.
