Walking along Happiness Places near Herkenbosch

The Central Limburg church village of Herkenbosch is ideal to explore on foot. You will find a lot of natural beauty in the countryside. You will also walk past three Happiness Places: special places that make local residents happy.

Daelenbroeck Castle
The first attraction on your route is Daelenbroeck Castle, which is located at the end of Kasteellaan. Please feel free to take a look. First you pass the monumental farm, a little further on is the eighteenth-century castle building. The compass rose of the castle is one of the Happiness Spots in Roerdalen. In the countryside you walk along the meandering Roer. Here you see meadows and orchards, but also a real lounge sofa. Take a seat and enjoy this Happiness Place!

Floor dropper mill
The Vlodroppermolen is a watermill from 1875. It is located just in front of the place where the Rothenbach flows into the Roer. Further on you pass the forest surrounding the Turfkoelen, the third Happiness Spot on your route. The Turfkoelen is a fen in an old Ruer meander, in the water large numbers of yellow wattle grow. A little later you walk a bit through the forest on the edge of the Meinweg National Park.
