Want to combine a day at the beach with a bike ride? This tour takes you to the seaside resort of Callantsoog and through the vast North Holland polders. Here you can get a breath of fresh air! You can park your car at Grote Sloot in Schagerbrug.  In the distance you can see the Groote Kaap lighthouse looming on the horizon. This steel tower is almost seventeen meters high and is still used to signal water traffic. In addition to the panoramic views, you can also enjoy the colorful beauty of the many flowers in the polder around Anna Paulowna: after all, this is the largest contiguous bulb area in the world. Culture lovers can also indulge themselves during this route: you will pass several museums, including Beachcombers Museum Callantsoog, Museum Farm Tante Jaantje in Callantsoog and Automuseum Schagen.

Beachcombing Museum Callantsoog is a museum with special collections of treasures found from the sea. The baby mermaid of Callantsoog and the cheerful interactive works of art by beachcomber, artist and sea poet Challa are part of the permanent collection. The museum is located between Callantsoog and Groote Keeten, directly behind the dunes at Strandslag Voordijk 9. There is ample free parking for cars, campers and buses. From this large parking lot you can walk past the salty testing grounds of the organic farm De Zandpolder to the museum. For a fun day out you can combine your visit with shopping in the chic seaside resort of Callantsoog or a lovely walk along the beach. In the cozy Jutterscaf? from the museum you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee with cake. Check the website for current opening times, entrance prices and information about exhibitions.

Museumboerderij Tante Jaantje

This museum is located in a dune dome in authentic condition. It is the only farm of its kind. In this museum you will learn more about how people used to live and work in this area. Not only on the edge of the country, but also on the edge of existence: poor and worrisome. These characteristics are reflected in the construction of this farm: soberly designed, often with wood that came directly from the beach. The interior of the farm dates back to the 1930s. The museum also contains a piece of the history of the KNRM and the development of the coastline from thousands of years ago to the present day.

Automuseum Schagen

At Automuseum Schagen, with Arie Kapitein as a roundabout, various car brands from Europe and America are on display. The traditional Dutch Dafjes have been given their own place. The collection is regularly supplemented with special cars from owners from the region who temporarily make their cars available to the museum. People used to be proud of their precious possessions and the family ride in the car on Sunday afternoon was an experience. Take a journey through the time of automotive history while enjoying a fresh cup of coffee. The entrance is completely free!
