Variety is an asset
With this route you will discover the Empire of Nijmegen. You cycle through lovely villages and beautiful nature reserves. The landscape is diverse: one moment you are driving through the rolling hills and deep green forests near Groesbeek, the next you are meandering over the dike along picturesque floodplains and swampy grasslands along the Maas. At the river it is wonderful to take a break or just look out over the water.
Roman traces
In the Sint-Jansberg nature reserve you pass the Bovenste Plasmolen from 1725. Nearby you will find the Roman villa: the largest Roman house ever excavated in the Netherlands, complete with underfloor heating, a special bath building, murals, mosaic floors and a terraced garden. In Cuijk you will encounter the Romans again if you take a look at Museum Ceuclum, where you will learn everything about the history of this town.
