Cycling across South Beveland

This route takes you across the narrow piece of land that is wedged between the Westerschelde and Oosterschelde: Zuid-Beveland. On this peninsula you can enjoy the peace, the open landscape and the characteristic villages.

The Inkel
Just like in other parts of Zeeland, you can get a breath of fresh air on South Beveland. The wind is almost always present: sometimes it keeps calm, sometimes it chases the clouds through the high Dutch sky. You cycle through a landscape of meadows, fields, but also many orchards. After a few kilometers you drive through Denk Inkel. This forest was planted around the channels that were created by the flood disaster in 1953. You mainly see oaks and elms.

Most of the route you drive on the dike along the Westerschelde and the Oosterschelde, you have beautiful views here. You also visit a few villages with beautiful sights. In Rilland you will pass the Witte Molen, a polder mill from 1851. There is also one in Kruiningen: the Oude Molen from 1801. You will also see the fourteenth-century Johanneskerk in this beautiful village.
