Cycling through South Beveland

This route takes you across the narrow piece of land wedged between the Western Scheldt and the Eastern Scheldt: Zuid-Beveland. On this peninsula you can enjoy the peace, the open landscape and the characteristic villages.

The Inkel
Just like in other parts of Zeeland, you can really blow away the cobwebs on Zuid-Beveland. The wind is almost always present: sometimes it keeps calm, sometimes it chases the clouds through the high Dutch sky. You cycle through a landscape of meadows, fields, but also many orchards. After a few kilometers you cycle through Denk Inkel. This forest was planted around the channels that were created by the Flood Disaster in 1953. You mainly see oaks and elms.

Crownings
The largest part of the route you ride on the dike along the Westerschelde and the Oosterschelde, you have beautiful views here. You also visit a few villages with beautiful sights. In Rilland you come along the Witte Molen, a polder mill from 1851. There is also one in Kruiningen: the Oude Molen from 1801. You can also see the fourteenth-century Johanneskerk in this beautiful village.
