Description
Spijkenisse is an excellent base for a beautiful bike ride across Voorne-Putten. You can travel many kilometers here along busy or rippling waterways. In the polders you can enjoy the many natural beauties.
Brielse Maasdijk
You drive for miles along the quiet Brielse Maasdijk, a dam that closed off the Brielse Maas. An ideal way to become acquainted with the versatility of this water-rich area. On the left you have many views over Voorne-Putten, on the right you look out over the water of the Hartelkanaal and the harbor area. The Hartel barrier, completed in 1997, is located in the Hartel Canal, one of the more recent parts of the Delta Works.
Last tram track
Beyond the picturesque Zwartewaal, the wonderfully peaceful landscape of Voorne-Putten awaits you. You drive through a mix of meadows, dikes, ditches and nature reserves. From junction 85 you drive a bit on the former tram track between Spijkenisse and Hellevoetsluis. This line was the last Dutch regional tram that was closed in 1966.
