Walking through the fields of Schinveld

From the Roode Beekh Visitor Centre you walk through the Leiffender Ven, a remnant of a once much larger marshland. A little later you walk a bit over the German-Dutch border. A nice moment to take a picture of a few border posts. On the right flows the Roode Beek. On this water is the restored building of the Etzenrather Mühle (or Etzenrader Mill) which originally dates from 1492. The mill has not been in operation since 1965. In this region you will of course also see characteristic old farms. At Gasterie Hedelfinger it is time for a pleasant and refreshing pit stop. From the footpath between the meadows you then have a beautiful view of the striking church of Bingelrade. Further on you can admire the Schinvelderhuuske: this 'house' dates from the eighteenth century.
