On the edge of Schinveld lies a relatively undiscovered green gem: the Schinveldse Bossen, the largest contiguous forest area in South Limburg! Put on your hiking boots and discover the charm of this special piece of nature.
View hill
On the Leiffenderhofweg you will soon pass a twelve-meter high viewing hill. Walk to the top and take a seat on one of the two unique benches that were installed here in 2015. You can enjoy the silence here, but also a beautiful view of the surroundings. Such as the Leiffender Ven, a wetland north of the hill.
Schinveld es
You enter the northern part of the woods. Since 1900, mainly Scots pines have grown on this former heathland. You can also see bilberry and heather here. A little later you walk across the Schinveldse es: an authentic agricultural cultural landscape. At the edge of the forest you can see herb-rich grasslands where a rare old breed of cattle grazes: the Heidekoe.
