A walk on the Geijsteren Estate

The Limburg Landgoed Geijsteren lends itself to a lovely walk through nature. On the estate and in the adjacent village of Geijsteren you will see some old sights.

Horse mill
Geijsteren Estate is a former lordship that has been in the possession of the same noble German family for two centuries. You can walk here peacefully through a landscape of forest, heathland, meadows and fields. The area is intersected by the Oostrumse Beek, a former branch of the Maas. Along this stream you will pass De Rosmolen, a water mill from 1667. Despite its name, it has never been a real horse mill. At the mill there is a striking wood carving made of branches from the forest.

Saint Willibrordus Chapel
A little further on you will pass the Gothic Saint Willibrordus chapel from 1543. In the Frankish period, court sessions and sacrificial acts were already held here. In the chapel you will find a Willibrordus statue from the seventeenth century and an altarpiece from the eighteenth century. In Geijsteren you can still see some beautiful old farms.
