Vlietlanden route from TOP Schipluiden

Schipluiden is part of the municipality of Midden-Delfland, a typical Dutch municipality with a valuable agricultural peat meadow landscape where cows simply stand in the meadow.

This route introduces you to the green surroundings of Midden-Delfland. Here you can cycle through extensive green areas and pass the Vlietlanden, the Foppenplas and the Krabbeplas. At junction 62 you use the ferry'\\\'De Trekschuit\\\'\\\'. You can operate this manually yourself. In use from April 2 to October 31.

You can also start this route from TOP Maasland or TOP Vlaardingen.

A few tips
Ferry De Kwakel
Ferry De Kwakel operates between the Kwakelweg and the Broekpolder recreation area. The ferry sails through the Vlietlanden nature reserve and also moors at café-restaurant't Jachthuis. Walking and cycling tours become even more interesting if you take this ferry, run by volunteers!
The Kwakel sails between bicycle junctions 71 and 66. May to September: daily from 11 a.m. to 5:50 p.m., April and October: only on weekends.

Dijkpolderpad
The Dijkpolderpad is a historic church path of approximately 2 kilometers long. This path used to be used mainly on Sundays as the shortest way to go to church. Nowadays you can walk among the cows and enjoy the beautiful peat meadow area of Midden-Delfland. The Dijkpolderpad starts at the Molenweide in Maasland.

Enjoy the good life in Cittaslow Midden-Delfland. At Hoeve Bouwlust you can taste artisanal farm ice cream and at Zuivelboerderij Van Winden you can buy delicious farm cheese (Tuesday and Friday afternoon, Saturday). Along the way you will also come across many catering establishments where you can taste the regional products of Midden-Delfland.

Museum De Schilpen
Museum De Schilpen has a lively grocery shop, where sweets and trinkets from grandmother's time are for sale. In the museum you can see various period rooms from around 1900. The book corner offers a lot of information about the region. The museum is located on a historic shell square in Maasland.

On Hodenarrow
Op Hodenpijn is a historic country estate where culture, art, health and well-being come together. Taste the flavors of Midden-Delfland in the Herdershof restaurant, visit a lecture, concert or exhibition. Or look around the stable and the (vegetable) gardens that supply the restaurant with dairy, meat and vegetables. Address: Rijksstraatweg 20-22, Schipluiden. Open: Tues to Sun from 10am.

Museum The Tram Station
Museum Het Tramstation is a former tram station of the Westlandsche Stoomtramweg Maatschappij. You will experience how people used to travel by tram. Visit the Art Nouveau waiting room, the showpiece of the museum, or visit one of the changing exhibitions. Address: Otto van Zevenderstraat 2, Schipluiden. Open: Wed (except in winter months) and Sat 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM.
