Schipluiden is part of the municipality of Midden-Delfland, a quintessentially Dutch municipality with a valuable agricultural peat meadow landscape where cows simply graze in the fields. Those cycling through this green and water-rich area between Rotterdam and The Hague enjoy the nature and the unique history of the landscape and villages. Polder roads, rows of pollarded willows, waterways with small bridges, and reed beds adorn the region.

At Hodenpijl
Op Hodenpijl is a historic country estate where culture, art, health, and well-being come together. Savor the flavors of Midden-Delfland at the Herdershof restaurant, attend a lecture, concert, or exhibition. Or look around the stables and the (kitchen) gardens that supply the restaurant with dairy, meat, and vegetables. Address: Rijksstraatweg 20-22, Schipluiden. Open: Tue to Sun from 10:00 AM.

Museum The Tram Station
Museum Het Tramstation is a former tram station of the Westlandsche Stoomtramweg Maatschappij. Experience what it was like to travel by steam tram in the past. View the Art Nouveau waiting room, the museum's showpiece, or visit one of the changing exhibitions. Address: Otto van Zevenderstraat 2, Schipluiden. Open: Wed (except in winter months) and Sat 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM.

't Woudt
't Woudt is the smallest village in the Netherlands and is situated in the open peat meadow area of the Woudsepolder. 't Woudt is rich in cultural history. The church, a row of small houses, three farmhouses, a historic garden wall, and coffee house De Hooiberg are located along a beautiful cycling route through Midden-Delfland. Due to its unique character and location, the hamlet has protected village status.

Old Tanthof Quay
The Tanthofkade is a centuries-old dike between the Kerkpolder and Lage Abtswoudsepolder that protected the city of Delft against the occasional encroaching water. As you walk along the quay, experience the openness, tranquility, and spaciousness of the peat meadow landscape. With a little luck, you may spot meadow birds such as black-tailed godwits, lapwings, and curlews. Address: side road off the Hoornseweg, Den Hoorn
