Description

South Limburg is known for the rolling landscape full of green hills, roads with hairpin bends, valleys with quietly flowing streams and steep edges. On this route you can enjoy all these typical landscape elements and you can also take a look at the famous American cemetery in Margraten.

Margraten military cemetery
The starting point of this walk is a bit outside Cadier en Keer. Start your walk here and head for Honthem, a hamlet a little outside Margraten. From here you can deviate a bit from the route to visit the impressive American military cemetery of Margraten. Here you will find the war graves of American soldiers who died in South Limburg during the Second World War. This cemetery with one row after another of white crosses forms a monument in memory of all these soldiers. Each cross symbolizes a fallen soldier. This is the only United States war cemetery in the Netherlands.

Cadier and Times
If you have replenished your energy supply at Op't Indsje, you can browse through Cadier en Keer. In this village you will find all kinds of ancient buildings such as half-timbered farms, Blankenberg Castle and the 12th-century church tower of the parish church. You will also find a beautiful cemetery chapel and a Lourdes grotto in Cadier en Keer. In short, there is plenty to see here while walking.
