Description
Postel Abbey is located across the border in Belgium. It is still inhabited by the white-robed Premonstratensians. The abbey originally dates from 1150. There are building parts from the Renaissance and Baroque and buildings of recent date. The abbey has a special library. The inn has a local menu and an extensive terrace. It can be very busy on weekends and in summer. In the parking lot there will be a"street with chip shops\\\".
The route leads through a varied landscape with alternating forests and agricultural areas.
There are several bars and restaurants at junction 18, on the border of the province of North Brabant and the Belgian province of Limburg. The Wild Zwijn on the Dutch side has a special ambiance. There is an extensive playground at the Kaasboerin on the Belgian side. The route can be greatly shortened by following the cycle path along the Postelseweg and the Eerselseweg. This last cycle path is immediately adjacent to the road.
