Walking along the Maas near Arcen

This route starts at De Maasparel - Hotel & Restaurant. On the edge of Arcen, at De Schans 1 you will see a monumental house from 1737. You will soon pass the Wymarsemolen, a corn mill from 1677. The watermill belonged to the nearby Arcen Castle, a country house whose origins date back to the twelfth century. . You can cross the Maas with a ferry. From the walking path along the bank of the Maas you have beautiful views over the water and Arcen opposite. For example, you will see the ruins of the Schanstoren, a fifteenth-century remnant of the former fortifications of Arcen. As early as 1635, the tower was severely damaged during a siege, after which it was never returned to its original state.
