Description
Get on your bike and discover the transition area between the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and Het Gooi. A true cycling paradise consisting of beautiful nature reserves and picturesque towns such as Bussum and Blaricum. You look your eyes out on the road!
Low Fire
In Boswachterij De Vuursche deciduous and coniferous trees alternate. It is wonderful to cycle here in the silence. Along the way you can take a look at Castle De Hooge Vuursche from 1912. Further on you cycle through Lage Vuursche, a village with a protected village view because of the beautiful eighteenth and nineteenth century houses you will find here. From junction 82 to 56 you drive across the wooded border between North Holland and Utrecht.
Grand Café Groeneveld
East of Hilversum you drive across the Zuiderheide, Westerheide and Bussumerheide. Enjoy beautiful views here. Via Natuurbrug Zanderij Crailoo, the largest ecoduct in the world, you drive into the Spanderswoud. At the end of the route you will arrive at Groeneveld Castle, a country estate that dates back to the eighteenth century. In the coach house of this castle you will find Grand Café Groeneveld where you can enjoy a delicious snack and a drink. The castle is located on an estate of about 130 hectares with a beautiful garden with different landscape styles.
The Table Mountain
Between Blaricum and Bussum you will find the highest point of the Gooi: the 36 meter high sand ridge that is called the Tafelberg. This mountain is located in the middle of the Tafelbergheide and the Blaricummerheide. This moorland is about 74 hectares in size and it has different height differences that were created during the ice age. You will also find various clay pits here that were created because people used to use clay to make floors.
