The church village of Kunrade is the starting point of this walk. This village has completely grown together with Voerendaal. The first part of the route takes you from Kunrade along the edge of Voerendaal and then you set course for Craubeek. You walk through the green countryside of these towns. Craubeek is a small town named after a stream and a valley with springs. The valley of Craubeek forms the boundary of a plateau with chalk layers in the bottom. These layers are better known as Kunradersteen. From Craubeek you walk back to Voerendaal and eventually you end your trip in Kunrade.

In the past, this rock was widely used as a building material for farms, castles and church buildings and is still used regularly today. Kunradersteen was formed in the landscape about 70 million years ago.
