The Valkenberg is a well-known hill from Flemish cycling classics, such as the Tour of Flanders. This walking route takes you over this hill and through the neighboring village of Elst.

Flanders Most Beautiful
In the rural area around Elst you walk through a series of open fields, fields, small forests and stream valleys. It is nice and quiet to walk here. Ideal for catching up with family and friends. The top of the Valkenberg is 98 meters. You have beautiful views over the green slopes of the Flemish Ardennes, a region that bears the title of Flanders' Most Beautiful Landscape.

Geutelingen Museum
In picturesque Elst you will see some beautiful historic buildings, such as the St. Apollonia Church, which stands at a height of 96 meters. The church originally dates from the Middle Ages, but was extensively renovated in the seventeenth century. In the Geutelingen Museum you can see how this local delicacy is baked in a brick oven fired with willow wood. The Geuteling, a kind of soft pancake, is traditionally sold to pilgrims who visit Elst.
