Discover Opdorp and the Lippelobos

Picturesque Opdorp
The starting point of this route is on the edge of the Lippelo forest. From here you set course for the center of Opdorp. The Dries van Opdorp is the largest and one of the most beautiful market squares in Belgium. You will see, among other things, the Sint-Amanduskerk, which originated in a fifteenth-century chapel. In the castle on the Dries you can visit the local history museum Ter Palen. This route also takes you along the center of Flanders. Students of the Faculty of Applied Sciences in Leuven have calculated that the geographical center of Flanders is just past junction 92. Remarkably, this center is located at the Drie-Provinciënpunt where East Flanders, Antwerp and Brabant come together.

Mushroom paradise
The Lippelobos is located around the Hof te Melis castle. The building is privately owned and cannot be visited, but parts of the forest are accessible. The actual afforestation only started at the end of the eighteenth century. This is reflected in the design of this park forest. For example, there are some majestic beech avenues. In the autumn, the domain has more than a hundred different mushroom species. In short, a wonderful area to explore.
