Discover Opdorp and the Lippelobos

Picturesque Opdorp
The starting point of this route is on the edge of the Lippelobos. From here you head to the centre of Opdorp. The Dries van Opdorp is the largest and one of the most beautiful market squares in Belgium. Among other things, you will see the Sint-Amandus church, which originated in a fifteenth-century chapel. In the castle on the Dries you can visit the local history museum Ter Palen. Furthermore, this route takes you along the centre of Flanders. Students from the Faculty of Applied Sciences in Leuven have calculated that the geographical centre of Flanders is just past junction 92. Remarkably enough, this centre is located at the Three Provinces Point where East Flanders, Antwerp and Brabant meet.

Mushroom paradise
The Lippelobos is located around the Hof te Melis castle. The building is privately owned and cannot be visited, but parts of the forest are accessible. The actual afforestation only started at the end of the eighteenth century. You can see this in the design of this park forest. For example, there are several majestic beech avenues. In the autumn, the domain has more than a hundred different types of mushrooms. In short, a wonderful environment to explore.
